Wooden toys are built to last
Toys by their very nature aren’t always treated the best by small children, that’s why it’s important to choose toys that are going to last. A good quality wooden toy can withstand being thrown around and may only suffer a few minor scrapes, unlike plastic toys that have the potential to shatter, causing a potential choking hazard. They generally lack any mechanical elements or battery compartments that are likely to malfunction as a result of being abused.
Under normal circumstances wooden toys will outlive your baby’s infant years and go on to be handed down generations, offering an equal amount of pleasure to your family members, and perhaps even your great-grandchildren.
Wooden toys are better for the environment
In this day and age where climate change is a hot topic of conversation, there has never been a better time to look at cutting down on our carbon footprint, either as a baby toy shop or as an end-user. Thats why Mamiina is committed to only stocking sustainable toys and eco-friendly toys wherever possible.
In the UK we produce around 5 million tonnes of plastic waste every year. Of course toys probably account for a small proportion of this, with the rest coming from plastic bottles and other plastic materials, but that doesn’t mean we can’t do our part. Wooden toys can be re-used over and over which in itself cuts down on waste straight away.
Natural Rubber Toys
Also part of our sustainable range are natural rubber toys made from rubber harvested from the Hevea tree. These toys also double up as teething toys!
